ABOUT THE TASK FORCE

Louisiana will start receiving funds from settlements with companies that fueled the opioid public health crisis. With the task force to advise the Attorney General and the Parishes and Municipalities on the priorities that should be addressed as part of the opioid epidemic and to review how monies have been spent and the results that have been achieved with the Opioid Funds.

Funding Allocation under MOU

THE FUND FLOW

● Defined parish-by-parish fund percentages, based on national “Negotiation Class Metrics”
● MOUD defines 4 classes of eligible recipients
– Sheriffs
– “Qualified Parishes” (New Orleans, Jefferson, East Baton Rouge)
– “Lead Parishes” (9 – one for each health dept. Region)
– Other Parishes (52)
● Sheriffs get 20%; parishes spit the other 80%
● Other Entities get funding from the parish
● MOU spells out allowable uses.
● Funds reserved (3% Admin, 7.5% Litigation Fees)
● Funds conditioned upon reporting
